Construction is the process of constructing a structure or infrastructure. It differs from manufacturing in manufacturing it typically involves mass production of comparable items without a designated purchaser, while construction typically takes place on a particular location for a recognized client.
Construction as an industry consist of six to nine percent of the revenue of developed countries. Construction must starts with planning, design and finally financing this continues until the project is built and ready for use.
Large-scale construction requires partnership across multiple disciplines. A project manager normally oversees the job and while a construction manager, construction engineer, design engineeror architect supervises it. All those involved with the design and execution must ensure to considerzoning requirements, scheduling, environmental impact of the job, construction-site safety,budgeting, availability and transportation of building materials, inconvenience to the public caused by construction delays, logistics and bidding. Large construction projects are sometimes called megaprojects.
Construction is a general word meaning the art and science to form objects, systems, or organizations, and it derives from Latin word construction (from com- “together” and struere”to pile up”) and an Old French construction. To construct is the verb while the act of building and the noun construction how a building is been built is the nature of its structure.
There are three sectors of construction which are infrastructure, buildings and industrial. Building construction are usually further divided into residential and non-residential (commercial/institutional). Infrastructure is also called heavy civil or heavy engineering which includes large public works, bridges, dams, railways, highways, water and utility distribution. Industrial construction includes factories, power generation, mills, and process chemical and manufacturing plants.
