The Housekeeper provides general housekeeping, laundry and linen services to ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of the facility to improve appearance and reduce the risk of infection and disease.
The Housekeeper is responsible for the day-to-day housekeeping and laundry of the facility. Housekeeping and laundry duties are provided for the patients and other workers as assigned. The position has a direct impact on the public’s eyes on cleanliness, appearance and overall health of the facility. This position may require shift work, depending on the community, including weekends and statutory holidays as the facility operates on a 24/7 basis year round.
Qualifications for this position are typically gained through a Grade 8 education, must have basic housekeeping skills, flexible and responsible, maintain confidentiality and have the ability to follow strict infection control protocols.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, English and French.
Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official language is an asset.
Equivalencies that consist of an acceptable combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Assets for this position would include WHMIS training if not will be provided the training, class 5 Driver’s License and one year of housekeeping and/or laundry experience in commercial or institutional setting.
Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset.
