Social Media Manager (P/T)
GrowNYC’s Social Media Manager, in the Development Department, manages, plans and executes strategy and policy for GrowNYC’s social media and digital platforms and communications, both as the owner of the organization’s central accounts, and by providing guidance to the department and programs that have a social media presence. The position will develop, implement and manage integrated, multichannel communications campaigns that support organizational priorities. They will serve as the digital project management lead, build reputation and engagement through a digital strategy and be responsible for supporting digital content marketing plans and content calendar execution as well as creating content for digital channels, analytics assessment (ROI/KPI), and SEO/SEM best practices that drive audience engagement. Position will manage social media accounts, protecting the organization’s brand and ensuring the appropriate voice and tone is maintained across all our channels. The incumbent must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to handle multiple tasks and manage complex projects.

Build and manage a robust digital marketing/social media strategy and policy that amplifies our multi-media communications and assists in driving stakeholder engagement across all GrowNYC channels. With an eye for analysis and detail, work closely with the department’s Development Associate, and other digital channel leads, supporting and implementing a data-inspired cross channel strategy to deliver content and assets tailored to specific audiences/personas. GrowNYC’s paid social media advertising; developing content, managing placement and optimizing advertising as needed.

Work with other channel/content leaders building relationships across GrowNYC’s writers and team members to foster collaboration, ensure message and brand alignment across all channels, and increase reach and engagement of our digital efforts. Maintain and improve best practices for GrowNYC and help train other communicators on these practices. Work directly with other program teams to coordinate the production and publishing of various digital communication platforms: (written, video, audio, photo).

In partnership with the Development Associate, establish KPI’s, reporting on insights and ensuring we are optimizing content to build engagement and broaden reach of our digital marketing efforts; making sure efforts continue to align with institutional priorities.

Requirements:

  • At least two years’ experience in organic social media content development and community management
  • Strong grammar skills for evaluating copywriting/content
  • Proficiency in Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Preferred proficiency in Later
  • Strong storytelling skills
  • Proven success in social media campaign planning, management and reporting
  • Working experience with influencer marketing is desired
  • Strong creative thinking to concept and create content that expresses brand voice
  • Capability for analytical thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment, think on your feet, and juggle many projects at once
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail and personal organization
  • Dynamic presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starting attitude
  • Interest in urban environmental and food systems is a plus
  • A critical eye for quality and details

The Social Media Manager position is part-time, with a time commitment of 20 hours per week. The schedule for this position is flexible, and work can be done from home. Compensation is $20/hour and includes only statutory benefits.
